The games are built here

Nothing on this site is an embedded player from somewhere else. Each game is written as its own engine, tuned for a browser tab and a phone screen, which is why the controls and difficulty are described accurately on every page.

The guides match the game you can play

A strategy guide is only useful if it describes the version in front of you. Our playbook is written against these editions, so a tip about paddle angle or a corner strategy applies to the exact game you just opened.

We say what these editions are

Games that carry a well-known name are our own independent adaptations, not official releases or emulated ROMs. Each page states that plainly, and the editorial policy explains how we decide what a page may claim.

Are the games on Free Games really free?

Yes. Every game runs in your browser at no cost, with no trial, no paid tier and no in-game purchases. You do not need to give us a card or an email address to play.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. Each game is built in HTML5 and JavaScript and loads straight into the page. There is no launcher, no plugin and no app store step.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play everything as a guest. Signing in only adds a private dashboard that remembers your scores across devices; favourites and personal bests otherwise stay in the browser you played on.

Do these games work on a phone?

Yes. Every arcade game has touch controls, either swipes, taps or on-screen buttons, and the game moves to the top of the page on a small screen. Board games use taps.

What can I play in five minutes?

Snake, 2048 and Flappy Bird all fit a short break, because a run ends in a minute or two. Sudoku and Klondike Solitaire suit a longer sit-down.

Are these the official versions of the classic games?

No. Games labelled an independent browser adaptation are our own editions, written from scratch and inspired by a well-known original. They are not the publisher’s release and they are not emulated ROMs.
